Fire glitters gold

It takes will to to win as it takes sun to shine

When gold goes through fire, it glitters its sparkles

When we accept criticisms with open-mindedness,

We grow to become better at our weak spots

And improve in every faults for a better versions of ourselves

Swallow your ego and listen to learn not to respond,

For there’re still many knowledge to learn and skills to acquire

If Socrates could fathom a sense in every nonsense

And believes thus: “every man is superior to me in a way”

We can become wiser by listening more to learn

For the ever critics and fault finders,

Your criticims would be gainfully effective and nicely appreciated

When you’re constructive, polite and kind.

Each time the wind blows,

The weaker branches panic and the stronger roots remain still

Love  Anew

Valentine Day – 14th Feb, 2022

https://allpoetry.com/poem/16370458-Love–Anew-by-Henrychukwuma717

Starting afresh, I met and loved again

This time, I pray for the best after my worst days

***

Like a rose flower cuddled with white ribbon,

She is wrapped in gracefulness and beauty

My heart leaps and beats for her

***

We shared and laughed for a while

In person and through the phone,

But the closeness grew and grew into love

***

Known each other just for a while

But It seemed like one year,

The longing for each other was real

We felt and admitted it

***

Can we walk through life’s road holding hands together?

I think we can, what about you?

Can we share happiness and sadness together?

Yes, we can, what do you think?

Can we protect each other and succeed together?

I believe we can, what about you?

Can we share the worst experiences with sincerity and trust?

I think we can, what do you think?

***

As we get to know each other,

Ponder on these questions,

Hold them in your hearts

And your dreams will become clear

***

I cannot promise you the sun

but I can help you shine

I cannot take you to the moon

but I can share everything with you

and make your sadness go away

I cannot give you the world

but I can walk through life’s thorns together with you

***

Clasped hand in hand,

Let’s walk the path of love

Loving and caring for each other

Not minding what anyone says

Caring less what life throws at us

Journey on with me

https://allpoetry.com/poem/16300547-Journey-on-with-me-by-Henrychukwuma717

When life is mean and people act like beasts

What do we care if not personal interests?

I won’t quit living having come this far

In this miserable place of hellish despair

***

[Chorus:]

Journey on with me

Through the brightest day

And far into the darkest night

‘Cause we will wake up

To see a new day before us

***

I’m ready to take on the world with you,

Together, we will fly and never break our wings

Just the two of us against the world

***

[Chorus:]

Journey on with me

Through the brightest day

And far into the darkest night

‘Cause we will wake up

To see a new day before us

***

Even when nobody can be trusted again

I’ll trust you, ‘because I know you won’t betray it;

I’ll raise you when you fall,

And when I rise unto glory, my place is yours;

***

I got your back and you’ve watched mine too,

Away from the world’s miseries

We’re happy to stand for ourselves;

***

In every chapter of history I’ll make

You’ll have a space to occupy in every page

I won’t tear down the sky for you, ‘because I can’t

But I’ll place you above it, for that I can

***

[Chorus:]

Journey on with me

Through the brightest day

And far into the darkest night

‘Cause we will wake up

To see a new day before us

THIS TIME

The problems of 21st century

Can we survive this time?

Yes, we can

Can we win this war?

Yes, we can

In many fronts, war awaits us

War!  War! War!

***

If we can fight terrorism

Why can’t we fight extremism?

If we can fight racial supremacy

Why can’t we fight culture superiority?

If we can fight social injustice

Why can’t we fight fake news?

If we can fight policy domination

Why can’t we fight culture cancellation?

If we can fight covid-19 virus and cyber warfare

Why can’t we fight poverty and hunger?

***

Protect! Protect! Protect!

If we can protect womens’ rights

Why can’t we protect religious differences?

If we can protect free speech

Why can’t we protect identity crisis victims?

***

Create! Save! Create!

If we can create skill economy

We can’t we save human jobs?

If we can conquer the space

We can’t we save our earth?

***

Can we win this battle?

Battle for the soul of human survival

Can we bridge this divide?

Divide along race, creed and belief lines

***

Together! Together! Together!

With spine and steel

Made of metal and guts

Woven in spirit of oneness

We can win all wars together.

You who chose me

When I had nothing

With loyalty and confidence

That I am a treasure,

***

You chose nothing

In the world except me

Hence, I’ll reject

The entire world for you;

***

You who stayed

By my dreams to protect them

With passion and zeal

That they’ll come true;

***

Among the things

You deserve most-

Crowning you

With stars is the least;

***

Clasped hand in hand,

We’ll conquer

With the will to live in the future,

Stopping even time,

***

Together, in good faith

Let’s walk down the aisle

To confess our solemn oath

Of love to humans and to God.

***

Forever, you’ll become

The cornerstone

Of the history I’ll make.

A Cup-full of Broken Ice

Dedicated to victims of KABUL airport chaos on August 16th 2021 following U.S. policy withdrawal from Afghanistan after 20 years of U.S. occupation in war against Al Qaeda, ISIS and Taliban forces. However, on 3rd May, 2017, I wrote a poem on “Issues of global war and terrorism in international politics”, but most of the underlying messages therein reflect the continuous rise in tension and threats of war as we see it unfold in many parts of the world today.

The bang of war has been beaten

Causing a battle line to be drawn,

The cry of war has began to ring aloud

To produce shots of undignified threats.

***

The world’s land is fertile with enemity

And soaked with grudges,

Brewing atmosphere of war

Ready to be cultivated whilst waiting

For a quarrelsome spark of light to ignite it.

***

The world’s curtain has been drawn

Exposing clashing swords of choices

And juxtaposition of differences in needs

As the language of violence ensues.

***

In the quest to change the world,

It may not too hard

when humanity in good faith wishes it so.

Bettering the world,

In our hands lies

The need for humans

To think and re-think, learn and re-learn

Adjust and readjust worldly values.

***

To every spoilt object not yet amended

We consider it condemned

When no hand of reconstruction

Has attempted to remodify it.

***

In avoidance of a universal bomb blast

That could lead to a world thorn apart,

Hanging cobwebs of war

In all continents must be removed

In restoration of a planet

Once clothed in nakedness of innocence.

It’s always us

https://allpoetry.com/poem/16034168-It-s-always-us–by-Henrychukwuma717

It’s always us all the way

From yesterday’s sunset till today’s dawn

It’s always us

***

From tears to laughter, from sorrow to joy

It’s always us

***

Walking on thorns together, fearing not its pricks

It’s always us

***

Unstoppable, we’re like legion but just two

It’s always us

***

Flying together without perching

It’s always us

***

Climbing together without resting

It’s always us

***

Running together without halting,

we’ve been running this race

And

It’s always us all the way

***

It’s always us all the way

***
